Baguio & Sagada, Luzon, Philippines

The well-known Baguio city center was over-crowded and chaotic. The malls were packed and the taxi waiting lines if there were any, very long. On the streets people would cut in and grab the taxi you flag down. That was the chaotic side of Baguio. The out-lying villages on the surrounding hills were different - quiet and scenic. Takes 7 hours by Victory Liner from its bus terminal in Pasay, Manila where the main NAIA airport is also.

Sagada was a everything I wanted in a mountain retreat - serene, mysterious, unspoiled mountain wilderness with hidden waterfalls, remote hanging coffins and caves. Takes 6 hours by coach from Baguio.

  • I was stationed in the Phillipines from '71-73. I made the long bus ride from Subic Bay to Baguio, most definately worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.
