Tributes to friends.

I have had the chance to meet many wonderful people in my travels. I think of them always and very appreciative when we communicate with each other online, phone or person. It is also very disturbing to find out that some of the wonderful people I have met and conversed with have passed on weeks or months before. This recently happened with a member here who was a real down to earth person and a sense of humor. To both Owen and Jason, I am honored to have been introduced into your life, take part in the many conversations and will always remember the times we had. This is a Tribute to Lthrwolf, and Hardlegger69. I hope that we all enjoy, cherish and appreciate the time we spend around the people we chat with in life.

I do hope that the site would consider making a gallery of the dearly departed.

  • Hi thanks for the suggestion.
I feel that online memorials are for family and close friends and are usually done by the funeral home website or newspaper website.
I feel it would be inappropriate to take peoples information, without their permission, and post it on my site so I wont do it.
Feel free to post one of their photos in your profile with a note about them.

Your idea has good intentions but I dont think its inappropriate for me to make a 'Memorial" section like that here without the permission of the family.

    thanks
    Marc

  • I have talked about this in the past with other sites and what I have learned is a couple of things. One it is very difficult to verify that someone has past. I know it seems easy enough to take someone's word for this especially if he is a good friend or even his partner but we live in a very crazy world and some people out there are not above writing in saying that someone they know has past on and really hasn't. This actually happened to a friend of mine. So getting proper verification for a webmaster is not easy. I am not sure what the answer is because I also find it sad to find out that someone that I have known and have been in communication with has past on weeks or even months later. So not sure what the answer is and many of us are concerned. I do know that in order to get a obituary oublished it takes a death certificate. So I have no answer only a little perspective on the problem is all.
