Historical Significance

It struck me last week while remembering the significance of June 6th that we need to remember why we were in that war in the first place. I know it was a long time ago and we have more important things to keep us focus like who is baking our wedding cakes. We ended up in that war to stop several authoritarian leaders of countries that wanted to control the entire world. We as Americans abhor the idea of a totalitarian leader and the disrespect for liberty and freedom. Because of the bravery of thousands of Americans we won that war and now have the opportunity to give it all away decades later. Last week the US attacked these same allies from the past for unsubstantiated digressions and cheating on trade. These are the same allies that came to our side after 9/11 also. We also as a country offered our hand to an authoritative plutocrat of a country that has only recently attacked the US and seized a part of another free country. The US has offered to help the country that has manipulated it's currency for decades, cheated on trade and dumped its products in our country by offering to assist in keeping one of its largest companies in business despite being accused by every reputable intelligence agency of spying. Maybe I am not seeing things properly but when I start fighting with my best friends and neighbors and accusing them of awful things and start hanging out with the bullies of the neighborhood maybe something is wrong with me just saying? This is a dangerous time and the old saying "You are damned to repeat history if you don't remember it" seems to be happening right about now. Before the start of World War II many countries made the calculated decision to appease the authoritarian leaders of the world because they did not want to face the alternative and see what that got them? Do we want to repeat this same mistake?

  • Afraid to write names? Why? You - and all people in america - are always far away from any war. No mistakes, there.
    Or wrong film, may be.

  • What war?
    What country?
    Stop writing in riddles.
"Maybe I am not seeing things properly" - yes, maybe.
